LaToya Payton holds an associate degree in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology from El Centro ​and a bachelor’s degree in public health from Kaplan University. She began teaching as an adjunct faculty member in the program in 2003 and became program coordinator in Spring​ 2017.

She is certified as a registered cardiovascular invasive specialist and limited medical radiologic technologist. 

She works as a staff technologist at Baylor Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital and was hired for that position before graduation after she completed a clinical rotation at Baylor University Medical Center.
