Janet Ward earned a master’s degree in information technology and a bachelor’s degree in information technology with honors from American InterContinental University in Atlanta and is currently working on a doctorate in educational technology from Walden University. She also holds an associate degree, an advanced certificate in Web design and a certificate in Web design from El Centro. She began working at Dallas College in 1997 and held a number of positions including administrative clerk, instructional learning laboratory coordinator, adjunct faculty, and webmaster and Web server administrator, becoming a full-time faculty member at El Centro in 2007. Mrs. Ward has also taught at the Dallas Urban League.
Related professional experience includes four years creating Access databases for Integrity Distribution Services, one year as a systems administrator for ROXX Publications, a variety of contract projects with various software and online testing products, and 15 years as a freelance Web designer and Internet database developer. She has served as a presenter at numerous professional conferences and workshops and developed a faculty-in-residence program to provide training and support to faculty updating skills and knowledge with IT-related software and Internet activities.
She holds credentials and certifications in Oracle 10g OCA, Oracle Academy certified instructor for Database Design, Database Programming With SQL and Programming With PL/SQL. She is a member of the Dallas Oracle Users Group. Awards and honors include several Innovation of the Year awards for the Common Reading program, Par System Online Testing and High Quality Video Instructions for Hearing Impaired Students.
