Eliazar Martinez earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Dallas Baptist University and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. He has also completed IT graduate work in computer information systems at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, and received a certificate in Microsoft NT Networks from SMU. He began working at Dallas College in 1991 at the Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development (now the El Centro Bill J. Priest Campus) and became a full-time faculty member at El Centro in 2004. Mr. Martinez served in the U.S. Navy for six years as a missile technician on board two nuclear-powered submarines; he also served in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
Related professional experience includes five years working at El Centro as a network technician, advancing to the IT/LAN support manager position; seven years as a career counselor and small business trainer for the Dallas Navy Family Service Center; and working for the General Services Administration, the Edmund J. Kahn Job Training Center and Small Business Development Center at DCCCD’s Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development. He has also been a presenter at numerous professional conferences and is co-PI of a National Science Foundation Convergence Technology Grant.
He holds credentials and certifications as a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Network+ and Security+ from CompTIA, Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA), CCNA Voice, CCNA Security, Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) and VM Ware VCP 4/5. Mr. Martinez has completed all Cisco Instructor-level training required to teach Cisco Networking Academy courses in CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Security, Cisco Wireless and Cisco Security.
