HEEM Opportunities

Students in the HEEM program have the opportunity to attend local and national events. The list below includes various annual meetings; it is updated each year based on opportunities in the industry.

  • IMEX America Future Leaders Forum (annual fall event in Las Vegas)
    The Future Leaders Forum is a segment in one of the largest industry shows in the United States (IMEX America). The two-day program designed for students provides training in leadership and professional networking and the opportunity to tour the show floor, which includes 3,500 exhibitors from 150 countries.
  • The Intern​ational Association of Exhibitions and Events Expo! Expo! Annual Conference (fall event — locations vary)
    This three-day convention offers over 100 educational sessions and an exhibition. Students are invited to experience the conference and arrange a meet-up with their peers from other colleges.
  • Meeting Professionals International (MPI) World Education Congress (annual summer event — locations vary)
    This international congress includes a program for students and the University Challenge, an annual competition for students in the meetings and events industry. Each year, the theme of the competition changes. There are five Global University Challenges that take place around the world, and winners from each conference are invited to compete at IMEX Frankfurt, where the final winner will be selected.
  • Partyfest (annual spring event in Dallas)
    The HEEM program is one of over 200 exhibitors at this event, billed as the largest one-day exhibition and trade show of its kind in the Southwest. The show features education programs and vendors showing the latest trends in special events. HEEM students work a booth and have the opportunity to network at the show.
