Chris Malvik has taught in Brookhaven’s EMS program since 2009. He served as an EMS clinical educator and quality manager, as well as Texas Department of Health instructor, for the Carrollton Fire Department for five years, and as a field Paramedic and education coordinator for CareFlite of Grand Prairie for eight years.
Additional experience includes serving as an emergency room EMT-Paramedic for Arlington Memorial Hospital South, and for South Fulton Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia. He also worked as an EMT-Intermediate at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott, Arizona.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in allied health administration and associate degree in paramedicine technology from Clayton College and State University in Atlanta, Georgia. He holds firefighter certification, certified EMT-ambulance certification and emergency vehicle operator certification from the Montgomery County Department of Fire/Rescue Services in Rockville, Maryland.
Chris served in the U.S. Navy from 1992-2004 including active, reserve and inactive duty. He was a corpsman in the 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in Quantico, Virginia.; in the 6th Engineer Support Battalion in Phoenix, Arizona; and in the 4th Medical Battalion 4th FSSG in Atlanta. He was a certified medical service technician and certified hospital corpsman in the Navy, graduating first in a company of 80 in his Navy Boot Camp in San Diego.
