Auditions

Auditions for the fall/spring the Richland Campus Dance Concert take place the first Friday of the semester from noon–2 p.m. in Studio GO27. All Dallas College students are welcome to join us!

What to wear

Come prepared to move in comfortable clothes. You will learn short dance combinations taught by the dance faculty. We invite dancers who perform contemporary, modern, jazz, tap and hip-hop dance styles. Bring your dance shoes if you have them.

Day of audition

Arrive early to complete the dance audition form. The greater your availability, the more likely you are to be cast. You will only attend rehearsals for which you are cast. A student may perform in a maximum of three pieces. You will need to enroll in either Freshman Dance Performance: 1151 or Sophomore Dance Performance: 2151.

Performance

Performance Company

Those with previous training may be selected to dance with the Richland Dance Company. These dancers will rehearse with a guest artist on Fridays from 12:30–2:30 p.m., and they will open the Richland Dance Concert with a featured piece of choreography.

Hip-Hop Crew

Dancers with an interest in hip-hop may audition for the hip-hop crew. Award-winning choreographer Cooper Delgado (Director of Hip-Hop at Dance Industry) leads this group with special events on and off campus.

Contemporary Jazz

Choreographer Lauren Holley Schieffer is a former Kilgore College Rangerette and Swingster with a Master of Fine Arts degree from Texas Woman’s University.

Tap

International Tap Dance choreographer Keira Leverton has performance credits at Radio City Music Hall, the Kodak Theater, the Sky Dome in Toronto and Wembley Stadium in London. She is a favorite with our tap dancers!

Dance Concert

The Richland Dance Concert will be held in the Fannin Main Theatre on a Friday, with two shows at 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Admission and parking are free, and seating is open.

Please contact me if you have further questions. I look forward to dancing with you!
