Automotive Technology-Diesel and Heavy Equipment at Cedar Valley

The Automotive Technology-Diesel and Heavy Equipment program at Cedar Valley will prepare you for a wide range of career opportunities. Our faculty draw on their knowledge and experience to ensure student success.

Developing Skills for Success

All of Cedar Valley’s automotive programs are located in the Industrial Technology Building, which also houses our Engine Technology and Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology programs.

Up to 75 percent of course work in our automotive programs is hands-on training in the lab, with the rest conducted in our adjoining classrooms.

Not only does each classroom have its own small lab, but we also have two large labs featuring the latest diagnostic and repair equipment. Our labs include:

  • Brake lathes
  • Cleaning vats
  • Lifts and special machinery
  • Vehicle hoists

Specialty Educational Opportunities

Our dual credit program offers qualified high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to earn college credit while completing high school requirements — tuition-free.

A dual credit agreement is in place between our automotive programs and two area high schools: Cedar Hill and Lancaster high schools. High school students can receive up to 12 college credit hours that can transfer seamlessly into our automotive programs at Cedar Valley.

Contract training can also be customized for any group, with specialized training and hours in our automotive programs. Contact the program coordinator to set up contract training for your group, either for college credit or for noncredit Continuing Educational Units (CEUs).
