Mountain View’s Alternative Teachers’ Certification (ATC) program provides certification, internship and state testing for the Texas teacher certification by partnering with:

  • North Texas school districts
  • Charter schools
  • Private schools
  • Individuals looking to make a move in their career

Certifications are available in 23 different academic areas, including math, science, special education, bilingual education, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.

This intensive program expedites the teacher certification process and consists of training in pedagogy, professional responsibilities and select content areas. Participan​ts are eligible to take the Texas Examination of Educator Standards (TExES) after completion of th​e required program training and to begin a teaching career upon a passing score.

Admission Requirements:

  • Have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and have the ability to provide the official college transcripts from each school attended. (Note: Students who have attended Dallas College for any credit courses do not need to obtain transcripts for those courses.)
  • Have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher (grades of “D” or lower will not be accepted.)
  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Submit the required Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) scores with your application packet.
  • Complete a two-part in-person interview session (online component and written essay).
