Key Areas: Outreach

The Departments of Outreach & Community Development partner with a number of education, non-profit and corporate entities to deliver a variety of programs to the community.
Some of the key areas for outreach include:

Dallas County School Outreach
The Department of Outreach works closely with public, private and charter schools in Dallas county to provide information about DCCCD programs and services to students and parents. We believe it is never too early to start thinking about college, and we value the opportunity to share information about accessing higher education with students of any age. School personnel/counselors and college access providers can find helpful information and request our participation in their school’s college and career events.

DCCCD Street Team
Our professional staff and student Street Team literally “goes on the road” to connect the community to the training they need to succeed in their lives and careers. We know not everyone thinks college is for them – our Street Team helps us get the word out that DCCCD is for everyone, meeting individuals wherever they are in their life journey. You’ll find the Street Team participating in parades, car shows, media events, and wherever the message can be shared.

Outreach and Recruitment Events
The Department of Outreach is charged with planning and implementing events and activities that connect potential students to the colleges of DCCCD. We are committed to improving college access rates by working closely with area schools, non-profits, faith based institutions, community groups and business entities to ensure that information impacting college access is available to all. We actively participate in FAFSA preparation workshops, college and career fairs, and community and cultural events that provide opportunities to connect community members to education.
