Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) and the City of Dallas share a common goal: both organizations are committed to generating zero waste by 2040.

How will we accomplish this?

  • Reducing the amount of materials we use
  • Re-using materials whenever possible
  • Recycling what can't be reduced or reused

Can be recycled at DCCCD

Do you know what to throw? (PDF - 15,646KB) For recycling to thrive, we need to recycle the YES things and keep the NO things out.

Yes! Always Recycle These:

  • Paper (Not shredded)
  • Cardboard Boxes (Flattened)
  • Plastic Bottles and Aluminum Cans (Empty)

Can't be recycled at DCCCD

No! Keep These Things Out:

  • Plastic Bags
  • Plastic Cups
  • Wrap
  • Air Cushions
  • Straps
  • All Styrofoam (all #6 - even clear plastic!)
  • Batteries (Place in special recycling tubes)

What else can I do?

  • Use a refillable bottle and travel mug for your drinks
  • Use reusable shopping bags or paper bags
  • Think twice before you print (Do I really need a paper copy of this?)
  • Buy less stuff (especially packaging!)
  • Use your own utensils instead of using disposable plastic
