Resolution Canvassing Returns And Declaring Election Results Of The Dec. 8, 2020 Runoff Election

​WHEREAS, a runoff election was held within Dallas County on December 8, 2020 to elect one (1) member of the Board of Trustees in Trustee District 5; and

WHEREAS, the returns and accompanying records of the runoff election have been delivered to the Chair and presiding officer of the Board of Trustees; and

WHEREAS, Section 67.002(a)(2), Election Code, requires the Board of Trustees to canvass the final returns of the election, and Section 67.003(c), Election Code, requires the canvass to occur not later than the fourteenth day after the date of the election; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees, after review and examination of the returns of the runoff election, is of the opinion that the returns are in all respects proper and legal; and

WHEREAS, it appears from the records maintained by the Dallas County Elections Department that the votes cast in Trustee District 5 are as shown on the tabulation of votes attached hereto and incorporated herein; NOW THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF DALLAS COLLEGE:

Section 1. That the returns of the runoff election held on December 8, 2020 for Trustee District 5 are canvassed and approved.

Section 2. That the person who is listed below with a majority of the votes is declared elected, unless challenged as permitted by law, as a member of the Board of Trustees for District 5, subject to their further qualifications as provided by law:

Trustee District 5

William Wesley Jameson - 1,809 votes

 Cliff Boyd - 2,200 votes

Section 3. That after the canvass of votes by the Board and completion of election certification, the Chair of the Board of Trustees shall promptly prepare and issue to the person with a majority of the votes, named in Section 2 of this resolution, and who was declared elected to the Board of Trustees, a Certificate of Election, and after such person makes the required statement disavowing bribery, which is filed with the Secretary to the Board of Trustees, and takes the required oath of office, that person shall occupy their respective district as a member of the Board of Trustees of Dallas College and is entitled to serve for a period of six years.

Section 4. That this resolution is effective upon adoption by the Board of Trustees of Dallas College.
