Student Sustainability Scholar Program

The Sustainability Scholar program is a co-curricular student leadership recognition program.

It has three tiers:

  • Tier 1 - H​ow can I live more sustainably? (Estimated launch to students Spring 2020)
    • Complete the two-hour online "Introduction to Sustainability" seminar (currently in pilot)
    • Earn a "C" or better in 3 three-hour credit classes from participating instructors
    • Take an exit evaluation
  • Tier 2 - How can I help my community be more sustainable? (Estimated launch to students Spring 2021)
    • Complete the two-hour online "Introduction to Sustainability" seminar
    • Complete a second one- or two-hour online seminar (in development)
    • Earn a "C" or better in 5 three-hour credit classes from participating instructors
    • Do 20 hours of sustainability-related Service Learning
    • Take an exit evaluation
  • Tier 3 - I want to be a sustainability professional – (To be determined)
    • Possibly a credit degree program

There is no cost to the student

Student benefits include:

  • Students taking at least 3 "sustainability" courses will earn a recognition at graduation
  • Student participation in the program will be documented on a Co-Curricular Transcript, which can be included with admissions applications to a four-year college or university.
  • Employers value this training.
