Full-Time Faculty Part-Time Faculty What are the criteria for teaching at Dallas College?Dallas College’s criteria, in accordance with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges guidelines, are as follows. Credit For credit courses designed to transfer to a baccalaureate degree:A master’s degree in the teaching discipline.(A minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the subject to be taught.) View Credentialing Guidelines by Discipline Workforce Training For workforce education courses not designed for transfer:A combination of academic preparation and work experience.(Including three years of direct or related work experience other than teaching.)Developmental For developmental courses:A bachelor’s degree in the specific teaching discipline and demonstrated competency. (E.g., teaching experience, honors, graduate course work or other related accomplishments.) Teaching Continuing Education ClassesEach Dallas College campus hires continuing education instructors independently and has a slightly different process for doing so. Please contact the Continuing Education Office at each location for more information. You can become a Dallas College adjunct instructor even if you have no prior teaching experience.Teaching as an adjunct provides an excellent opportunity to gain hours in the classroom. Faculty Market Disparity Stipend for Full-time FacultyDallas College awards stipends of $15,000 $8,000 or $5,000 to attract and retain qualified full-time faculty teaching in disciplines where there is a demonstrated market disparity.
