Richland College Asian Studies program provides DCCCD students the opportunity to learn about the various aspects of Asia, its culture, people, and cultures through multidisciplinary study. DCCCD students are able to understand and appreciate Asian culture and understand better about the Asian and American culture. Students are able to understand how Asian countries play very important roles in the global market. Also, the number of Asian students, businesses, and immigrants to America are also rising. Hence, through the program, students are able to learn about the culture and receive a stronger awareness of Asia and how it impacts America and the globe.
To further enhance DCCCD faculty members to continue providing current knowledge to DCCCD students, a group of DCCCD faculty members from Richland and North Lake College in joint collaboration with Austin College participated in a learning service program in India through the Fulbright-Hays Group Project Program in 2007.
