According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, health-related occupations will add the most new jobs to the economy – nearly one-third of the total increase – through 2022. Job growth largely reflects the medical needs of a larger older population and more insured people in the U.S. stemming from healthcare reform.

America’s Career Infonet projects job growth increase of from 14 to 25 percent for various social work positions, and 29 percent for substance abuse and behavioral disorder counselors. High job increase is defined as annual growth over 10 percent.

Substance abuse and behavioral disorder counselor is also among U.S. News and World Report’s Money Careers’ fastest-growing health care jobs of the decade. U.S. News and World Report’s Money Careers’ lists clinical social worker among its “best health care jobs” of the next decade.
