Do you enjoy working with people in a job that’s different every day? Are you already in a medical profession and looking to further your career with valued credentials?

Take a look at El Centro’s Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program — it’s a challenging, multifaceted course of study designed to produce well-trained, highly qualified medical professionals.

What Does an MRI Technologist Do?

MRI technologists perform examinations using magnetism and radio frequency energy to visualize a wide variety of internal structures, such as the brain, spine, abdominal organs and the heart. MRI may also be used to visualize joints such as the knee and shoulder and to image the body’s vascular system.

Get started today in Magnetic Resonance Imaging!

As a technologist, you will be challenged to apply fundamental principles of MRI to medicine. A successful technologist is proficient in MR physics and instrumentation, imaging and procedures, anatomy and physiology, common pathology and clinical applications.

Why Is This a Good Career Bet?

The U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that health-related occupations will add the most new jobs to the economy – nearly one-third of the total increase – through 2022. Fourteen of the 20 fastest-growing jobs listed by America’s Career Infonet are in health care occupations.

Job growth in all medical fields is largely due to the aging population as well as more people accessing medical services because of health care reform.

America’s Career Infonet ranks MRI technician ninth out of the 100 fastest-growing jobs requiring at least an associate degree, with job growth of 24 percent annually.
