What does a physical therapy aide do?

  • Maintains cleanliness and organizes treatment area in preparation for patients' therapy
  • Performs such tasks as massages, electrical stimulation, paraffin baths, and other exercises under the direction and supervision of physical therapist
  • Records and reports patients' responses to treatment and outcomes to the physical therapist

What is the career outlook?

  • Physical therapy aides must be able to lift and possess physical strength due to physical exertion that is required to treat patients
  • Work hours and days vary with facility and can be employed part-time and full-time
  • In Texas: median salaries of $10.04 per hour or $20,900 annually*
    Dallas County: median salaries of $11.91 per hour or $24,800 annually*
