Nine Area Students Receive DCCCD LeCroy Scholarships

(DALLAS) — Nine high school and college students from throughout the Dallas metroplex have been named LeCroy Scholars by the Dallas County Community College District Foundation for their outstanding leadership and scholarship. The program honors DCCCD's former chancellor, Dr. R. Jan LeCroy, who served from 1981 to 1988. Each LeCroy scholar receives up to $2,400 ($600 per semester with a maximum of four semesters) to attend any DCCCD college.

The students, the college they will or do attend and the field they will study are:

  • Terry Gary of Irving, North Lake College, biology/mathematics;
  • Piotr Gerstenkorn of Dallas, Brookhaven College, business;
  • Tatyana Gladilina of Carrollton, North Lake College, international business;
  • Jordan Gregory of Mesquite, Eastfield College, international relations;
  • Samantha Holcombe of Garland, Richland College, education;
  • Suja John of Rowlett (Rowlett High School), Richland College, nursing;
  • Liz Juarez of Guatemala (R.L. Turner High School in Carrollton), Brookhaven College, nursing;
  • Erika Machuca of Garland, Richland College, biology;
  • Cathy Munoz of Irving, North Lake College, biology.
