The Dallas County Tech Prep office serves the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) member colleges in implementing Tech-Prep education programs. The Dallas County Tech Prep office, known as the Dallas Sector, is a member of the North Central Texas Tech Prep Consortium that works in conjunction with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Texas Education Agency.
Tech Prep consortia are charged with coordinating the planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive technical/occupational programs in the public schools and community colleges. The Tech-Prep education initiatives administered through the NCTTPC and the Dallas Sector has led to the DCCCD's participation in articulation agreements with local Independent School Districts (ISD). These articulation agreements serve as the basis for students to receive college credit while in high school.
To this end, Tech-Prep education may be described as a curricular and instructional strategy based on a commitment by DCCCD colleges and ISD educators, working with business and industry, to provide a seamless course of study for all students interested in technical careers.
