
Burt Peachy Burt Peachy is an experienced
lecturer, consultant and trainer in the concepts and principles of continuous quality
improvement in higher education, small business, local government, and health care. Burt
is also a consultant for strategic planning, visioning processes and institutional
effectiveness.
Currently, Burt is president of his own consulting firm, Burt Peachy and Associates,
which focuses on all aspects of management training in higher education. Presently Burt is
also contributing editor of Quality in Higher Education, a monthly newsletter published by
MAGNA Publications of Madison, Wisconsin. Burt also serves as staff administrator for the
Continuous Quality Improvement Network of Community and Technical Colleges.
Burt's educational experience includes 18 years of full-time teaching experience in
higher education with an emphasis on communications. He also served as visiting professor
in the School of Education at the University of Southern California, teaching quality
improvement concepts and practices in higher education. He has over six years experience
in management training in the areas of continuous quality improvement tools and
techniques; change strategies; strategic planning; organizational development;
institutional learning; community building; customer service; training in systems analysis
and statistical process control (SPC).
Burt has 26 years of administrative experience in higher education at several two and
four-year institutions. His wide range of experience runs from department chairman to
assistant to the president.
Since 1991, Burt has consulted with dozens of institutions of higher education in the
U.S. and Canada, presented at many national quality conferences as well as chambers of
commerce, major corporations and medical centers. He has published a number of articles on
management for organizational transformation and is a respected keynoter on the subject.
Currently Burt is consulting on the application of the Baldrige in Education Criteria in
higher education with several community college districts.
Burt is a member of the American Society of (ASQ), American Association of Higher
Education (AAHE), American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) and the Continuous
Quality Improvement Network (CQIN).
Burt's educational background includes Ph.D. course work in communications at the
University of Southern California, an M.A. in communications and theatre from California
State University at Long Beach, and a B.A. in humanities from the University of
California, Riverside.
