ABOUT WELLNESS

The DCCCD Wellness Program provides opportunity and inspiration for employees to participate in a healthier life and workstyle. Employees who participate in the Wellness Program will receive health information, health screenings for early detection and prevention, and feedback that will assist in their personal wellness goals:

heart Complete blood analysis including cholesterol and lipid profile.

heart Physical fitness assessments will be available only through specific physical education and continuing education classes. Many of these classes offer complete computerized physical fitness assessments both at the beginning and at the end of the course. These classes may be taken by all full time employees and active retirees throughout the District free of charge, on a space available basis. Examples of courses offered that include detailed physical assessments are:
PHED 1164 Physical Fitness
PHED 1119 Weight Training
PHED 1123 Walking for Fitness
PHED 1124 Aerobic Dance
PHED 1145 Intermediate Aerobics
PHED 1116 Conditioning

heart Other credit and non-credit wellness related courses that can be taken on a space available with matching time include but are not limited to:

  • Nutrition
  • Golf
  • C&W Dance
  • Drawing
  • Racquetball
  • Tennis
  • Karate
  • Ceramics
  • Stop Smoking
  • Bowling
  • CPR
  • Printmaking
  • Yoga

EMPLOYEES AND RETIREES

heart The program is available free of charge to all Full-time employees and active Retirees.

heart Part-time and Limited Full-time employees and spouses including retiree spouses are allowed to participate in wellness testing provided they pay for costs ($35.00 for bloodwork). They are not eligible to take release time for participation in wellness activities.

heart A blood test to include a Chem Screen Panel + Coronary Risk Panel + Complete Blood Count are required yearly. Any employee who does not participate in the Fall testing may still join the wellness program provided he/she presents a copy of the above lab work done within a year to the location wellness coordinator.

IMPROVEMENT TO THE WELLNESS PROGRAM EMPLOYEE HEALTH EDUCATION

heart Health conscious educated employee can lead to a healthier employee. The District recognizes the importance of employee education as a means to enhance personal health.

heart The District has had large wall mounted displays installed at the District Office, District Service Center and Bill J. Priest with plans to expand to the LeCroy Center.

TESTING DONE OUTSIDE THE DCCCD provided testing dates and times will be at the employee’s or retirees own expense.

heart Test results are provided to all employees. Professional interpretation of the results should be attained from the employee’s personal physician. Wellness participants should consult their personal physician before engaging in wellness activities

heart Employee participants are entitled to take a total of 1 ½ hours of work time each week (during working hours) to participate in wellness activities on or off campus, provided they match 1 ½ hours of personal time each week. Time for wellness activities must be cleared and documented with the employee’s immediate supervisor. Wellness entitled time or matching time cannot be accrued

heart Employees may participate in campus exercise or fitness classes free of charge, or they may use facilities at other campuses within the District. Employees may participate on a space available basis

heart Employees may choose to use facilities such as local fitness centers, YMCAs, etc.

heart Wellness related activities are not covered by the district’s Workers Compensation Insurance plan.
