Goal 4: DCCCD will use existing and emerging telecommunication technologies to provide convenient and flexible access to accredited and life-long learning opportunities to students and workforces.
Distance learning includes televised live classes, telecourses, telecourses with an internet component and courses delivered entirely over the internet.
District-wide Indicators:
-- course enrollments and student performance
-- distribution of student enrollments by residency (in/out of District)
status
| Growth in distance education is attributed to increasing enrollments
in courses delivered
over the internet. In 1999-2000, on-line instruction accounted for 37% of all distance learning enrollments. Approximately 59% of the grades for 1999-2000 telecourses were completion grades (A, B, C, D, E and F) and 46% were successful completion (A, B or C) grades. Internet course completion rates were significantly higher with 74% completion and 56% successful completion grades awarded. |
