DCCCD BOARD OF TRUSTEES' INDICATOR REPORT

2001-02 Continuing Education

Goal 2: DCCCD students will obtain quality continuing education to enrich their lives personally, socially, and culturally and to upgrade occupational and job skills.

Coordinating Board reimbursed continuing education (CE) courses to develop occupational and job skills are referred to as workforce training. Non-reimbursed courses such as creative/performing arts, leisure, and youth programs are noted as personal interest.

District-wide Indicators:

-- Workforce training and personal interest contact hour trends
-- Percent of CE students who are repeat customers

ten years of continuing education in contact hours

Enrollments in continuing education courses, specifically those related to workforce training, increased throughout the 1990s. Each academic year from 1994-95 forward set a new District "high" for total continuing education contact hours.

During 2000-01, 66,462 students enrolled in 11,903 continuing education courses. Almost one-half of these students had enrolled in the District prior to 2000-01.

The following graph displays 5-year trends for each location. While year-to-year variation occurs, most locations reflect the District growth trend in workforce related training.
