"At a Glance"
Goal 1: Career and Transfer Preparation

Surveyed employers indicated the DCCCD is successfully preparing students
for the workplace.

Student academic performance after transfer to a 4-year university resembled
that of students who began their higher education at a university.
Goal 2: Continuing Education

Growth continued in workforce training courses.

Forty percent of continuing education students were "repeat customers."
Goal 3: Basic Skills

Students who completed remediation and enrolled in a related college-level
course had higher success rates than non-remediated students.

All DCCCD colleges exceeded the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
performance standards for developmental student graduation/transfer rates.

Enrollments in English as a Second Language courses continued to increase
and such courses had one of the highest completion rates of DCCCD courses.
Goal 4: Distance Learning

Recent growth in distance education was attributed to increasing enrollments
in courses delivered over the internet.

Student success rates were higher in on-line courses than telecourses.
Goal 5: Access

The student body mirrored Hispanic and African-American populations, was
lower than Anglo and higher than Asian populations.

Almost 9% of the adult county population were served through DCCCD credit
and non-credit instruction during the year.
Goal 6: Economic Development

Over 280 businesses contracted with the DCCCD to provide training to their
employees.

A total of $5,315,317 in revenue was generated from contracts and new grants.
Goal 7: Citizenship

More than 1,200 students completed their service learning commitment resulting
in a contribution of 23,158 volunteer hours to the community.

Service learning students had higher fall to spring retention rates than
non-service learning students.
