Goal 5:  Access
The DCCCD student body will reflect the demographic characteristics of the Dallas County adult population and will persist in achieving their individual educational goals.

District-wide Indicators:

Fall 1999 Credit and Non-Credit Students

Student enrollment by ethnicity
The combined credit and non-credit fall 1999 student body reflects Hispanic and African-American populations, is lower than Anglo and higher than Asian populations.

The DCCCD serves almost 9% of the adult county population each year through credit and/or non-credit instruction.

Females out number males (55% vs. 45%) - a continuing trend for most undergraduate institutions since the mid 1980s.
 
 
 
Student Retention and Course Completion
Fall to spring retention and course completion rates remain stable over time. Of fall 1998
credit students, 61% returned the spring semester. Full-time students had the highest retention rate (77%) followed by those enrolled 6-11 hours (62%) and others enrolled 1-5 hours (44%).
Approximately 76% of the total grades awarded fall 1998 were completion (non-withdraw or incomplete) grades. Of those completion grades, 81% were successful outcomes of A, B or C.
