Fall 2000 DCCCD Students
The combined credit and non-credit fall 2000 student body is similar to the African-American adult population, lower than Anglo and higher than Hispanic and Asian adult populations.

The credit student population differs slightly from the total student population with 48% Anglo, 21% African-American and 18% Hispanic.
Continuing Education students differ significantly from the total student population with 39% Anglo, 36% Hispanic and 13% African-American.
The DCCCD serves almost 9% of the adult county population each year through credit and non-credit instruction.
Student Retention and Course Completion
District fall to spring retention and course completion rates were similar to prior years. Of fall 1999 credit students, 62% returned the spring semester. Full-time students had the highest retention rate (76%) followed by those enrolled 6-11 hours (62%) and others enrolled 1-5 hours (46%). Approximately 76% of the grades awarded fall 1999 were completion (non-withdraw or incomplete) grades. Of those completion grades, 80% were successful outcomes of A, B or C.
Texas Peer Group Course Completion
"Percent of contact hours completed" is the Legislative Budget Board measure for course completion. The DCCCD average rate of 76% (college ranges 73% - 81%) differs slightly from the Texas Peer Group average rate of 78% in fall 1999.
