The ceremony, sponsored by the United States Postal Service, El Centro and Kwanzaafest, begins at 7 p.m. in the Performance Hall. Although the ceremony is free and open to the public, reservations must be made no later than February 24 by calling 214-653-6671.
El Centro is located in downtown Dallas on the corner of Main and Lamar streets.
Serving as master of ceremonies, Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley will deliver the welcoming speech and introduce honored guests. El Centro President Wright Lassiter will make opening remarks.
The event pays tribute to the inauguaral issuance of the Malcolm X Commemorative Stamp, which will be available during the dedication.
Ms. Shabazz has been a film producer, writer, lecturer, motivational speaker and director of various programs for the last 20 years. She has provided leadership training and acted as a self-esteem enrichment facilitator and cultural consultant for numerous organizations and projects.
Ms. Shabazz currently serves as president of Prism International, which works to build understanding across cultural groups, and Harvest Chord, which works to identify and match resources among these groups.
Along with the eldest daughter of Martin Luther King, Jr., Ms. Shabazz is the co-founder of Nucleus, Inc., a motivation theater group.
