Instruments "TechKNOW-ED" Scholarship Program
Texas Instruments
(TI) created the TechKNOW-Ed (Technical Knowledge Education) Scholarship
Program to attract high performing students into Semiconductor Manufacturing
Technology (SMT) or Integrated Circuit Layout (IC Layout) programs offered
at Eastfield, Mountain View and Richland Colleges. Preference is given
to high school students that have accumulated applicable college credit
hours through Tech Prep or Dual Credit arrangements with the above colleges.
Women and ethnic minorities who meet the selection criteria are encouraged
to apply for this scholarship.

Eligibility
Criteria
Applicants
must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Legal
right to live and work in the United States indefinitely;
-
NOT be currently employed at TI;
- NOT
currently enrolled in the Texas Instruments Technical Internship
Program;

Enroll in or declare a major in an approved associate degree program
at one of the designated colleges;
- Have
a cumulative 3.0 GPA or a "B" average in most recent
transcript (last two years of high school or most recent college
work)
*In
the event that an applicant is unable to present a high school or
college transcript, s/he must enroll in an approved SMT or IC Layout
program and successfully complete the first semester (3.0 GPA or
higher, at least 12 credit hours) to be considered for eligibility.
Application
Process
Applicants
must submit the following to the Financial Aid Office at the college
they plan to attend:
- A
completed Texas Instruments “TechKNOW-ED”
Scholarship Program Application form;

An essay answering the questions on the Texas Instruments Scholarship
Program Application form;
- A
copy of SAT scores, TASP scores, or most recent high school or
college transcript;
- A
signed TI Scholarship Evaluation form from your college instructor
or high school teacher in a sealed envelope.
Selection
Process
Scholarships
will be administered through a joint effort of TI’s Workforce
Development Office and the Dallas County Community College District
(DCCCD) Foundation. Scholarships will be awarded twice a year, once
in the spring and once in the fall. The DCCCD Foundation will provide
TI with all scholarship applications meeting the minimum requirements.
TI will review applications, interview finalist, select and inform
DCCCD Foundation of scholarship recipients.
In
the event a recipient should refuse to accept a scholarship; an
offer will be extended to an alternate.

Requirements
Scholarship
recipients must:

Complete a one-year College Course Schedule under an approved
Associate degree plan;

File a College Course Schedule with their campus’ Financial
Aid Office;

Complete 24 credit hours in one academic year;

Maintain a 3.0 GPA while taking a full academic load throughout
their course of study. A full load is defined as a minimum of
9 credit hours per fall or spring semester. Additional credit
hours may be taken during the summer semesters in order to attain
24 credit hours per academic year.

Scholarship recipients failing to meet the stated requirements will
be placed on scholarship eligibility probation for one semester.
Should the recipient fail to meet all initial requirements at the
end of the probationary period he/she will become permanently ineligible
to continue in the TI scholarship program.
Deadline
Applications
for spring semester must be received by the Financial Aid Office
of your intended college no later than October 30.
Applications
for fall semester must be received by the Financial Aid Office of
your intended college no later than March 29.
