Eleanor
Fordham Jones Award in Creative Writing
The Eleanor
Fordham Jones Award for Creative Writing is presented each year to an
outstanding student who excels in the composition of prose or poetry at
one of the seven Dallas County Community Colleges. The Jones winner receives
a cash award and the opportunity to share his/her written work at the
annual reception. The Eleanor Fordham Jones award is made possible by
a gift from Mrs. Jones' sons, daughters and grandchildren in honor of
her 75th birthday.

per academic year, rotating yearly from campus to campus which offers
courses in Creative Writing.

Eligibility
Criteria
Applicants
must enrolled in either a fall or spring creative writing class. Preference
is given to students majoring in English.
Application
Process
Applicants
should contact a creative writing instructor at their campus, indicating
interest in applying for the Eleanor Fordham Jones Award in Creative
Writing.
Selection
Process
The
recipient is selected by the instructor(s) of Creative Writing at
the designated college and are chosen based on character, talent,
dedication, and need. The recipient of this award is invited to
recite a written piece at the yearly reception held in the spring.
Recipients
must submit the following to the DCCCD Foundation:
- Complete
DCCCD
Foundation scholarship application
- Copy
of original composition; and
- Personal
letter to Mrs. Eleanor Fordham Jones describing the applicant's
current school experience and future goals.

Monday in February.
