and Rosa Golblatt Award in Community Service
This scholarship
is a tribute to the lifetime of community service work of Rosa and Max
Goldblatt, whose work was instrumental in the creation of the Dallas County
Community College District. It was established to assist students and
to foster a commitment to community service on the part of the scholarship
recipients.

Eligibility
Criteria
Applicants
must be able to demonstrate a personal commitment to community service
by agreeing to volunteer at least 10 hours of each semester. Community
service can be done with bond or political campaigns, hospitals, libraries,
or any other civic volunteer work.
Application
Process
Applicants
must complete a DCCCD
Foundation scholarship application form and a one-page essay describing
their community service philosophy and experiences to the Student
Programs and Resources (SPAR) office at the college they are attending.
Selection
Process
Recipients
are selected by the SPAR Director.
Recipient
Requirements
Recipients
must enroll in at least 6 credit hours and perform at least 10 hours
of volunteer community service each semester. Failure to meet these
requirements could result in a reduction or loss of their scholarship
benefits.
Deadline
Recipient's
paperwork will be forwarded to the Foundation Office on or before
the first Friday in January 2010. SPAR Directors will select their
recipient in February.
