Rebecca Allen Memorial Scholarship

The Rebecca Allen Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of Rebecca Kasse Allen, whose remarkable life ended much too soon, as a result of an automobile accident. Rebecca held several part-time jobs while carrying a full course load and pursuing a business degree at North Lake Community college. This scholarship will be awarded to students who are business majors, are working to put themselves through college, and have a need for financial assistance.

Amount of Award
Up to $1,000 per academic year ($500 per semester).

Number of Awards Per Year
Varies per available funds.

North Lake College

Eligibility Criteria
Recipients must be pursuing a business degree and have enrolled in 12 credit hours or more per semester. Recipients are also expected to maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, and to be employed at least part-time, as they pursue higher education. (Applicants must submit a letter of verification of employment from their employer to the North Lake College Financial Aid Office.)

Recipients of the scholarship must write a letter of thanks to the Family of Rebecca Allen.

Application Process
Applicant must submit a completed DCCCD Foundation Scholarship Application form to the North Lake College Financial Aid Office.

Selection Process

  • Phase I - Financial Aid Director at North Lake College submits applications of top four candidates to the Foundation Office.
  • Phase II - Foundation Scholarship Committee determines final winners.

Deadline
For application: 3rd Friday in May
Finalist applications to Foundation: First Week in June.
