Gulf States Toyota T-TEN Automotive Technology Diversity Scholarship

The Gulf States Toyota Automotive Technology T-TEN Diversity Scholarship is merit and needs based, providing funding for students from lower-income households who wish to pursue an Associate of Applied Science degree in Automotive Technology – Toyota T-TEN option, on the Dallas County Community College District’s Eastfield College Campus.

Amount of Award
Throughout the two year program, the scholarship will provide funding to cover the expense of:
  • Tuition
  • Required books and materials
  • Toyota/Snap-on tool set
  • Some meals on campus
  • Emergency Assistance (not to exceed cost of attendance determined by the Texas higher Education Coordinating Board Standards)

A paid internship at a Toyota Dealership is also provided at the end of the first semester.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and/or lawful resident residing in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, or Louisiana.
  • Applicant must possess a High School diploma, GED or Home School Certificate. Preference will be given those who have received a High School Diploma, GED, or Home School Certificate within the last two years.
  • Applicant must apply for admission in the Eastfield College Associate of Applied Science degree program, and select the Toyota T-TEN option.
  • Applicant must submit a typed essay of 500 words or less outlining his/her educational career and life goals.
  • Applicant must submit 3 letters of reference (for example: one from a High School counselor or Principal, one from a High School instructor, and one from a person of his/her choice).
  • Applicant will be required to maintain full-time enrollment status per enrollment period.
  • Students must pass TASP or take the Accuplacer test. Students testing at DM 097, DR091 and DW 091 levels will still qualify for this scholarship.
  • All campus Policy and Procedure and Code of Conduct will apply.

Scholarship awards will be based on qualification and merit, and on financial need. The Gulf States Toyota Scholarship Program is an Equal Opportunity program.
 

Recipient Requirements
To maintain eligibility and continue to receive Scholarship Funding, the recipient must:
  • Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
  • Maintain “full-time” enrollment with a minimum of 12 credit hours taken in each of the Fall and Spring Semesters, and a minimum of 3 hours taken in each of the Summer I and Summer II Semesters.
  • After the student’s 2nd semester, secure and maintain sponsoring employment with a Toyota Dealer.
  • Complete the T-TEN Program and all AAS Automotive Technology coursework within 3 years of initial enrollment.
