Dr.
Wright Lassiter, Jr. BKM Scholarship
Dr.
Wright L. Lassiter, Jr. was named Chancellor of the seven-college
Dallas County Community College District in June 2006. This
scholarship was established in 2006 by BKM, Total Office of Texas,
L.P. to honor his new position as the Chancellor.
The Wright Lassiter Scholarship is awarded to students attending
any of the DCCCD colleges who are majoring in Entrepreneurship
Studies, Art, Interior Design, CAD, Education, Leadership Studies,
Mid-Management Careers, Science, Math and Technology.

Criteria
Applicants
must enroll in a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours. Applicants
must have a 2.5 GPA or better and must have completed at least one
semester at a DCCCD college. Applicants

Preference
will be given to students who do not qualify for PELL but have financial
need.
Application
Process
Applicants
must submit the following to the Financial Aid or SPAR office at
the college they attend.
- Complete
DCCCD Foundation Scholarship
Application form
- One-page
typed essay describing your short-term and long term goals based
on their intended major.
- One
letter of recommendation from a DCCCD faculty member, high school
counselor or college academic advisor.
Selection
Process
Phase
I-Financial Aid or SPAR Office submits applications of top five
candidates to the Foundation Office.
Phase
II-Foundation Scholarship Committee determines final winners

Requirements
Recipients
must maintain a 2.5 GPA or better. Failure to do so could result
in a reduction or loss of scholarship benefits.
Deadline For

Notification to students: Second Wednesday in June

Guidelines
Applicant's
personal essay must address each of the questions listed below.
It is very important that all questions are answered thoroughly
as this information will be considered an important part of the
selection process.

are your career goals? How do you plan to fulfill them?
- In
what college or community organizations are you involved? How
do you see this involvement as helping you in your educational
and/or career goals?
- How
do you plan to coordinate your responsibilities with family,
education, work, etc. and to ensure that you will meet your
educational goals?
