Josephine Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Josephine Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of Josephine Jones, mother of Susan Turner, Executive Dean at El Centro College. Mrs. Jones, a well-respected member of her community, contributed countless hours of volunteer service as a Board of Trustee member in New York, a municipal judge in Texas and as a national, state and local officer in numerous educational support organizations. The scholarship will be awarded to female students who are Information Technology majors at El Centro College.

Amount of Award
Full-time student (12 or more credit hours) $1,000 per year or $500 per semester

Part-time students (6 – 11 credit hours) $500 per year or $250 per semester

Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must be a female student, an Information Technology major, have completed at least 6 credit hours of information technology courses, and have a GPA of 2.0 or greater.

Application Process
Applicants must submit a completed DCCCD Foundation Scholarship application with a letter of recommendation for an Information Technology faculty to the El Centro Financial Aid office.
 

Selection Process
The Information Technology Programs and Systems Support division’s Scholarship Committee will recommend 5 finalists to the Executive Dean of the division. The Executive Dean will interview the finalists and, in consultation with the Financial Aid Director, will determine the scholarship recipient(s).

Recipient Requirements
Recipient(s) must successfully complete a minimum of 6 credit hours and maintain a 2.0 GPA or better. Failure to meet these requirements could result in a reduction or loss of scholarship benefits.

Deadline
For application: Second Friday in April to Financial Aid
Finalist applications to Foundation: Second Week in May
Notification to students: No later than the Third Week In July
