How to Apply for Rising Star Scholarships

NOTE:  All available openings into the Rising Star Class of 2009 have been filled. We appreciate your interest in the Rising Star Program and wish you success in your search for college funds. Contact your college financial aid office for more information about what aid might you be available for you. 

After the first of the year, the Rising Star Web Application link will be
re-activated to begin accepting applications for the Class of 2010. The Rising Star Class of 2010 will be open for eligible high school students graduating in 2010.

• Complete a Dallas County Community College admission application. Apply on campus or online at www.dcccd.edu. Call ahead for instructions on what to bring with you to complete the admission process.
  
  
• Complete a Rising Star Application. To complete a Rising Star Application contact the Rising Star office at the DCCCD college you plan to attend. Contact information is available at the DCCCD Rising Star Offices page.
  
  
• Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Complete an application online at www.fafsa.ed.gov
  
  Undocumented students ONLY: For individuals ineligible to use the FAFSA submit the Texas Application for State Finacial Aid (TASFA) to the campus Financial Aid Office of your choice. For TASFA information and application go to: http://collegeforalltexans.com

Please be aware of the following deadlines:

• Complete the Rising Star application process by July 1, 2009 for Academic Year 2009-2010.
  
  
• If you plan to enroll for Summer II or Fall 2009, you need to complete the 2009-2010 FAFSA. Contact the Financial Aid office for submission deadline.
  
  
• You have until July 1 after the date of your graduation to complete the Rising Star Program application process.
