How to Apply for Rising Star Scholarships

1. Complete an admission application for a Dallas County Community College on campus, online at www.dcccd.edu. Call ahead for instructions on what to bring with you to complete the admission process.

2. Request a current official high school transcript from your high school registrar or counselor to attach to your Rising Star application. Your final official graduation transcript will be required as evidence that you have completed requirements for high school graduation. Funds do not transmit without it.

3. Answer each question completely on the Rising Star Program Application and the Supplemental Information Profile. Both documents are required for admission into the Rising Star Program.

Be aware of the following deadlines to apply for Rising Star for each semester indicated:
* Fall semester - July 1
* Spring semester - November 1
* Summer I and Summer II sessions - April 15

Submit all of the following at the same time:

  • Rising Star Program Application
  • Rising Star Student Supplemental Information Profile, and
  • One current official high school transcript to:
    Rising Star Program

    Dallas, TX 75215-1816

4. Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Complete an application online at www.fafsa.ed.gov or mail
the application to:
Federal Student Aid Programs
Post Office Box 7001
Mt. Vernon, IL 62864-0071

Undocumented students ONLY: Submit the Dallas County Community College District Financial Aid Application for Individuals Ineligible to Use the FAFSA to the campus Financial Aid Office of your choice.

If you plan to enroll for Summer I 2009, you need to complete the 2008-2009 FAFSA. If you plan to enroll for Summer II, Fall 2009 or Spring 2010, you need to complete the 2009-2010 FAFSA.

You have until April 15 after the date of your graduation to complete the Rising Star Program application process.
