Lora Villarreal, DCCCD Foundation board member and executive vice president and chief people officer of Affiliated Computer Services, Inc., was selected for the 2009 National Hispanic Woman of the Year Award, presented by the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF). Villarreal is being recognized for her exemplary professional achievements and as a positive role model for Hispanic women of all ages.

"We're proud to recognize the many contributions made by Dr. Villarreal. As a scholar, she sets a great example for our community," said Martin Castro, president and chief executive officer, MAOF. "As a professional, she sets the highest standards in her industry and, as a successful Latina, she challenges our youth to aspire greatness."
The award was presented to Villarreal at MAOF's 33rd Annual National Women's Conference on May 22. MAOF, based in California, is one of the largest Latino nonprofit organizations in the United States and established its networking and professional development event to ensure Latinas had access to job opportunities in corporate America.
Villarreal joined ACS in 1998. In her role as chief people officer, she leads a worldwide staff and oversees all the human resources functions for the Fortune 500 company and its 74,000 employees. Villarreal is a member of the board of directors for Buck Consultants, a wholly owned ACS subsidiary. She joined the DCCCD Foundation board in December 2008. |
