Metro Athletic Conference

The purpose of the intercollegiate athletic program in the Dallas County Community College District is to provide opportunities for student-athletes to continue educational activities in sports.  Bringing together those students with motor skills beyond the level of the college physical education class and/or intramural offerings, the program promotes physical fitness, intellectual development, social interaction, sportsmanship and team commitment.

Such activities may be a bridge for students from secondary schools to the two-year college; they may also be instrumental in encouraging students to continue their education at the senior-college level.  Additionally, the athletic program strives to be a force for bringing together both participants and spectators of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Non-scholarship student-athletes who maintain specified academic standards and who demonstrate normal progress toward graduation are served by this intercollegiate program.  Equal athletic participation opportunities will be provided for male and female student-athletes, based on interest.

Many of the DCCCD athletic teams have won several national championship titles in the past few years.
