The DCCCD Libraries have as a primary mission orienting all students to the information environment and introducing each user to the tools needed to navigate an increasingly complex world of information resources. Each library provides orientation classes to teach access procedures to students so that they may find resources to augment their classroom experience.

There is an information center on each campus where students will receive assistance in locating print, non-print materials, electronic full-text resources, the Internet and database services to supplement classroom learning. Each library has a growing collection of books and journals on a wide variety of subject areas to support academic transfer programs and technical/occupational programs. Other resources provided may include slides, tapes, compact discs, computer software, videotape, films, and digital video disks. In addition, there are special collections of career materials, pamphlets, popular and technical periodicals and newspapers.

Willful damage to library materials (or property) or actions disturbing users of the library may lead to the loss of library privileges. Damage cases are referred to the appropriate authorities for further action. All books and other library materials must be returned before the end of each semester. No transcript is issued until the student's library record is cleared.
