Memorandum from the Brookhaven College Police Department
Over the past several years, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of violent acts committed against members of school campuses across the country and in the severity of these acts; the worst incident in the nation occurred at Virginia Tech, April 16.
While we at Brookhaven College have been fortunate not to experience such an occurrence, it is prudent and responsible to set forth procedures in reference to the response and management of a hostile intruder incident. Although the probability of such an incident occurring on our campus is low, it is our intent to make information available to members of the college community so that you may increase your chances of safety should an encounter of this nature occur.
