Wendy Camarena, 2008 LeCroy Scholar

Wendy Camarena hopes to build a career in broadcast journalism, beginning with her communications courses at Brookhaven College. She wants to transfer to the University of Texas at Austin or Southern Methodist University to earn her bachelor’s degree. An outgoing and outspoken person, Camarena works as a conference center coordinator and maintains a 3.7 GPA. The LeCroy Scholars Program recognizes student for outstanding leadership and scholarship with up to $3,200 in scholarships.


Advising Center and Multicultural Center will be closed, except for phone calls, Friday, Oct. 10. Advisors will be attending the DCCCD Advising Summit.

Physical Anthropology / Human Evolution

New! Anthropology 2401, Physical Anthropology/Human Evolution is a transferable four-hour lab science course.

Topics covered include:

  • genetic mechanisms of evolution
  • our relatives in the primate world
  • the human fossil record from Lucy to modern humans
  • varieties of human types
  • evolution of human diet, resistance to disease, and the rise of toolmaking and language
