Saturday, April 6 - Dallas Blooms at the Dallas Arboretum (This event has ended.)

Directions: Volunteers are asked to park across the street from the Arboretum at 8710 Garland Road. You will be shuttled to the main entrance after you park. Be the Change staff will greet you when you arrive. Please look for our T-shirts and table set up when you arrive.

Description: Students will work with guest services and membership services for the day. Please do not wear blue jeans! Only 20 volunteers are allowed per shift. Please register early to ensure your spot.

Saturday, April 13 - Texas Tree Foundation (This event has ended.)

Directions: The TXU Energy Urban Tree Farm & Education Center is located on the Richland College Campus across from parking lot D.

Description: Volunteers are needed to help replant trees, transplant mulch and pull weeds in the nursery as well as mulch the newly formed Center for Urban Forestry. Please wear clothes you do not mind getting muddy. Closed-toe shoes are required. Safety glasses and gloves will be provided. Come out and have a TREEmendously awesome time!

Directions: Located between Lake June Road and Elam Road on Buckner Boulevard.

Description: Día de la Familia is an event where high school students learn about the path to success through higher education and have fun participating in family activities. This event was initiated in 1986 at Eastfield College in response to high dropout rates among Latino students during their transition to college; its purpose is to reach out to parents and students as a family unit.

Volunteers are needed to work with the event coordinator to execute activities for the day. Volunteers will be assigned to different areas such as kids activities, decorating, clean up, exhibitors and set up. Volunteers will receive a volunteer T-shirt and food. Please wear jeans and closed-toe shoes.

Directions: Volunteers are encouraged to take DART’s Green Line to the Fair Park stop, which lets passengers off between gates 3 and 4. Visit the DART website to view maps and train schedules. If you drive, park in the general lots at Fair Park. Fair Park charges $10 per car. Bike parking is available. View Fair Park parking maps.
 
Description: Earth Day Dallas is an annual, outdoor festival seeking to elevate environmental awareness and influence the way North Texans think, live and work. Dallas County Community College District will have several booths at the event, and volunteers are needed to represent their college and provide information to Earth Day Dallas attendees about our degree and certificate programs. Each volunteer will receive a DCCCD T-shirt, the opportunity to explore the festivities, and the joy of proudly representing DCCCD!

Directions: The playground build will occur in the empty lot next to Pathway of Life Church. Please park in the church parking lot.

Description: Volunteers are needed to help prep the area for a brand new playground to be built on Saturday, April 27. Please wear closed-toe shoes and dress appropriately for outdoor work. Lunch will be provided!

Legacy Prep received a grant from KaBoom, a national nonprofit that is dedicated to saving play for America’s children. The mission is to create playgrounds in communities throughout America. Please wear closed-toe shoes and dress appropriately for outdoor work.
