North Lake Baseball Player Is Chosen as Elite Hitter

Jacob Columbo has slugged his way onto the 2014 Division III Baseball Marucci Elite Hitters list. Columbo, who plays catcher for North Lake, finished the season with a .408 batting average. You can see the entire list of Elite Hitters at the National Junior College Athletic Association website.
Three Eastfield Grads Earn Transfer Scholarships
 
Salvadore de Leon, Rachel Knowles and Sofia Narvaez have been awarded Terry Foundation scholarships. The scholarship program helps outstanding Texas high school graduates and transfer students attend public state colleges and universities. Each Eastfield College graduate will receive a $12,500 scholarship. De Leon is an engineering major who was a NASA Scholar, Student Government Association representative and a HarveSTAR. Knowles, a science/biology major, was president of the Psi Eta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and also served as a peer mentor and a HarveSTAR. Narvaez, a psychology major, was a member of the Psi Eta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and held a 4.0 grade point average. De Leon and Narvaez will attend the University of Texas at Dallas in the fall. Knowles will attend Texas Woman’s University in Denton.

Watch Results of North Lake Video Students’ 24-Hour Race
Two groups of students from the North Lake College Video Technology program placed first and second in the college section of the 13th annual 24-Hour Video Race. The Video Race, presented by the Video Association of Dallas, is a fun filmmaking competition in which teams of video makers have 24 hours to write, shoot, edit and score an original short film. See the winning videos at http://www.24hourvideorace.com/. The winning North Lake videos are located in the Futurevision (College) section.
