Reverse Transfer: Earn a Degree the Easy Way!

Our reverse transfer program lets you earn an associate degree from your DCCCD college long after you’ve moved on to a four-year university — and at no cost to you!

Traditionally, courses you take at a college of DCCCD can be applied toward a degree at a four-year university. The “reverse” in reverse transfer means that courses you take at a four-year university are applied toward an associate degree at a college of DCCCD.

Why Take Advantage of Reverse Transfer?

Even if you plan to obtain a bachelor’s degree, having another degree on your résumé can help you in the job market. With an associate degree, you may be able to move up at a job you have now, or you may qualify for new job opportunities.

There’s no risk to you — even though you are applying the hours you have earned at the university toward your associate degree, your hours will still apply toward your bachelor’s degree.

How to Qualify

To qualify for an associate degree under reverse transfer, you must:

  • Have earned at least 30 college credit hours from one of the seven Dallas County Community Colleges
  • Have earned at least 60 college credit hours from a university that has a reverse transfer agreement with DCCCD (see list below)
  • Have earned at least 90 college credit hours total
  • Have transferred to the university with one of the colleges of DCCCD as the last school attended
  • Be in “good standing” at both your DCCCD college and the university

Work is going on now to forge agreements with other area universities.

How It Works

You don’t need to lift a finger to find out whether you’re eligible for reverse transfer. Here’s how it works, using UNT as an example:

UNT runs a computer query, based on course hours. If the query finds that you are eligible, UNT sends you a form to fill out. If everything checks out, we contact you to say you have qualified for a degree. It’s that easy!

Reverse transfer: Just another bonus of enrollment at the colleges of DCCCD!
