Network Systems Specialist III
Network Systems Specialist III (Position No. 110804009)
Salary: $3,730 / Month
A full-time IT position in the Information Technology Department.   Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Work with administrative/educational support appications and network activities.

  • Responsible for the installation, maintenance and enhancement of selected network operating system and network system software. 

  • Serves as a liaison with technical personnel involved with supporting and maintaining network operating system and network system software.

  • Maintain a high degree of expertise to research, analyze, evaluate and recommend network and microcomputer application and operating system software/hardware.

  • Installs, maintains and enhances selected network operating system and network system software.

  • Monitors network performance and resource utilization.

  • Serves as a liaison with location personnel involved with supporting and maintaining network operating system and network system software.

  • May lead technical and professional employees in support of network and operating system software/hardware, and may coordinate network activities.

  • May be responsible for applicable network security.

  • May install Novell client, reset passwords, and set rights.

  • May monitor location software licensing compliance.

  • May be responsible for hardware asset management.

  • Assists supervisor and/or appropriate others to evaluate hardware/software, prepares/reviews bid specifications and participates in ad hoc projects.

  • May review and write technical specifications for software/hardware.

  • Provides, with other members of workgroup, 24 hour/7 day a week on-call support.

  • May select, train and supervise assigned staff.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in a complex network system environment or Associate’s degree plus four years experience in a complex network system environment or graduation from high school or equivalent plus six years of experience in a complex network system environment (a combination of college course work/training plus a minimum of one year of relevant work experience may be used to total six years experience).
  • Requires intermediate knowledge of all facets of complex network system environments, such as Unix, Novell NetWare, and/or Windows NT Server. 

  • Experience with Windows 2003, Novell, LDAP and SQL scripting is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide variety of external professionals and in-house staff from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. 
  • Official transcript will be required.
