Salary: $46,108 - $80,689 / Salary Range
A full time position in the Financial Services Department. Demonstrated responsibility and management of payroll accounting transactions, reconciliation of related general ledger accounts and associated accounting work paper/schedules utilized in preparing for the annual financial audit and published financial statement. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Payroll and accounting experience in a multi-location organization with a large computer based payroll processing system, including multi-state payrolls.
- Demonstrated ability to produce employer federal and state tax reports and filings.
- Ability to use web-based work flows and processing.
- Experienced in project management.
- Plans, develops and implements time lines and procedures for district-wide payroll.
- Researches payroll related problems and recommends solutions within approved policies and procedures utilizing independent judgment and discretion.
- Supervises location payroll functions and ensures accurate and timely processing.
- Assists supervisors and employees in understanding payroll policies and payroll related laws included relevant IRS Tax Code, state benefits deductions and other payroll related matters.
- Coordinates annual W-2 reporting process. Develops and presents oral and/or written communications related to payroll processing, state benefits and reporting.
- Directs the preparation of payroll reports.
- Analyzes and reconciles adjustments and changes made for the period.
- Coordinates corrections and directs the preparation of payroll checks.
- Generates supplemental payroll reports necessary to pay teachers retirement, optional retirement/tax shelters annuities, state and federal taxes, etc.
- Authorizes check requests for payroll liabilities.
- Maintains District payroll records and establishes storage and retrieval procedures.
- Assists in the review and assessment of payroll related software performances and makes recommendations for software and process improvements.
- Selects, trains and supervises assigned staff.
- Performs related duties as required.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, business or related filed plus four years experience in managing payroll departments and operations including supervision and interpretation of relevant policies and payroll tax codes or Associates degree or two years of college plus six years of progressively responsible experience in managing payroll departments and operations including supervision and interpretation of relevant policies and payroll tax codes.
- Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others.
- Requires demonstrated oral and written communication skills to interact with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
- Resume and copies of transcripts are required by the application deadline.
