Veterinary Technology Faculty (Visiting Scholar)

Salary: $40,000 - $46,000 based on education and experience. / 9 Months
A full-time teaching position (Visiting Scholar) in the Math, Science and Allied Health Department. Duties include but not limited to:
- The Visiting Scholar program is a temporary appointment, recommended for up to two years at the discretion of the College President.
- This position requires teaching course in the Veterinary Technology Program using a variety of teaching modalities in a classroom environment and performing other duties expected of a full-time faculty member as specified in the DCCCD contract.
- Duties include but are not limited to: Must be flexible working with program demands, including teaching schedules involving day or evening instruction.
- Serving on appropriate departmental, college and district committees.
- Participates enthusiastically in recruitment and retention activities; advises students regarding degree/certificate plans and coursework; engages in professional development activities; contributes to the department’s curriculum development efforts.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree, registered as RVT in the State of Texas or eligible to be registered, or DVM licensed to practice in the State of Texas or eligible to practice.
- Three years of experience preferable in a Veterinary Technology Program or three years recent clinical experience. Requires professional demeanor, good communication skills, interpersonal skills and demonstrated teaching skills, writing syllabi, exams and ability to work with student of varying abilities form diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with critical thinking concepts and use of computers in instruction is necessary.
- Prior teaching experience in a Veterinary Technology Program is a plus.
- Extra service and summer compensation possibilities in addition to 9 month contract. (Comprehensive benefits package)
