A part-time (Mon-Fri 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.) position in the Math, Science and Allied Health Department.  Duties include but are not limited to:

Responsible for the proper care and feeding of all animals under the care of the Veterinary Technology Department. Assures the cleanliness of cages, runs, ward areas, large animal treatment areas and the large animal barn and feed rooms. Responsible for supervision of students assigned to kennel duty. Assists Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians with the administration of medications and restraint. Performs general housekeeping duties, equipment cleaning and maintenance and restocking and inventory monitoring of kennel supplies. Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

High school diploma or higher plus four years of experience with animal handling and care, working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility, including supervision. Possession of a Veterinary Assisting Certificate desirable but not required. Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods and the use and care of cleaning materials and equipment. Ability to carry out written directions. Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.  Be familiar with the proper methods of animal restraint. May be "on-call" during weekends, holidays and/or hazardous weather conditions. Requires the ability to supervise and to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
