Kennel Manager⁄Technician
Kennel Manager⁄Technician (Position No. 031001004)
Salary: $13.95 / Hour, Part-time
A part-time (Mon-Fri 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.) position in the Math, Science and Allied Health Department.  Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the proper care and feeding of all animals under the care of the Veterinary Technology Department.

  • Assures the cleanliness of cages, runs, ward areas, large animal treatment areas and the large animal barn and feed rooms.

  • Responsible for supervision of students assigned to kennel duty.

  • Assists Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians with the administration of medications and restraint.

  • Performs general housekeeping duties, equipment cleaning and maintenance and restocking and inventory monitoring of kennel supplies.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

  • High school diploma or higher plus four years of experience with animal handling and care, working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility, including supervision.

  • Possession of a Veterinary Assisting Certificate desirable but not required.

  • Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods and the use and care of cleaning materials and equipment.

  • Ability to carry out written directions.

  • Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the work. 

  • Be familiar with the proper methods of animal restraint.

  • May be "on-call" during weekends, holidays and/or hazardous weather conditions.

  • Requires the ability to supervise and to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
