DCCCD Offers High Quality, Affordable Education
Tuition is the dollar amount you pay for your courses. The amount of tuition you pay is based on where you live and the number of credit hours you are taking. If you live in Dallas County, the cost of tuition is $123 per three-hour class. That's $41 per credit hour.
Other higher education institutions charge much more. A three-hour course at UTA costs $928 and at UTD, $1,805.
If you live outside Dallas County, tuition rates are as follows:
- $76 per credit hour for out-of-county residents
- $121 per credit hour (with a $200 minimum) for out-of-state/out-of-country residents

Most distance learning students who live out of state will be charged an additional $55 per credit hour for distance learning tuition.

What Makes DCCCD So Affordable?
At DCCCD, you get the same course, same learning objectives and the same quality of instruction at a better price! How can DCCCD offer the same course and charge so much less?
“Community” is key to the answer about cost at DCCCD. As a community college, DCCCD is college for the people, funded by the people. A portion of local property taxes collected annually by Dallas County supports DCCCD. Those tax dollars, in addition to funding from the state of Texas and DCCCD’s tuition charges, make it possible for the college district to provide high-quality course offerings at one of the lowest tuition rates in the state. Because state and private universities don’t have a local tax base for additional support, they must charge higher tuition rates.
As a Dallas County resident, DCCCD is your community college. Take advantage of an affordable college education at one of the best community college systems in the country. It all begins here.
