If you are a recent high school graduate and meet the qualifications listed below, you can be a Rising Star!

  • You must graduate from an eligible Dallas County public high school, Dallas Can! Academy or a DCCCD charter high school. Contact the Rising Star advisor at the college of your choice to find out whether your high school is eligible.

  • You must exhibit financial need; in other words, your family’s income must fall within a specific range (see the table below).

  • You must complete a financial aid application with a DCCCD Financial Aid Office using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) if you are not eligible to apply for federal aid. The results of the application will determine your financial eligibility for the Rising Star program.

You also must meet one of the following academic requirements:

  • Graduate in the top 40 percent of your class

  • Graduate with a B average (80 percent or better on a 100-point scale)

  • Or pass the required DCCCD assessment test to enter any of our seven colleges
