Below is a comprehensive list of all lenders who have originated federal student loans for DCCCD students within the past three years, and who have indicated that they are still making new loans to DCCCD students for the 2008-2009 academic year (current as of Aug. 1, 2008).
The DCCCD Offices of Financial Aid make no claim as to the day-to-day accuracy of this list. Lenders are currently entering and exiting participation in the Stafford Loan Program without prior notification to the colleges.
This list is not intended to represent all lenders who participate in the Federal Stafford Loan Program. Many other lenders who are still making loans to students do not actively market in Texas and have not provided loans to DCCCD students within the past three years.
Important Note: As of July 1, 2008, a few lenders, although still in the Federal Stafford Loan Program, have notified DCCCD that they will not make new student loans to DCCCD students. These banks are Chase, Citibank, Key Bank and Wells Fargo. If you select one of these lenders during the loan application process, your application will be denied by the bank, and you will have to choose another lender. This could delay your loan disbursement.
As a student borrower, you have the right to choose your lender. Your college Financial Aid Office cannot recommend or assign a lender to you. For further information about choosing a lender, visit Mapping Your Future or the Federal Student Aid Gateway, or visit the lenders’ Web sites to determine the lender that best meets your needs.
